WE 2018 AGM & Committee Meetings 12th & 13th April – Highlights

Watercoolers Europe (WE) held its 2018 Annual General Meeting and Committee Meetings on Friday 13th April in Düsseldorf, Germany.  WE strives to develop the industry and assist Members in the marketplace.

As you can read below, the Executive Committee and the various Committees are working on some interesting initiatives.

  • WE are investigating centrally funding translation of WE training, audit and technical documentation.
  • WE welcomed the Czech Republic Association (CABW) as Members of WE

Standards & Technical Committee overview:

  • Protocol 3:  Standard Methodology for the Examination of the Microbiological Efficiency of Point of Use Sanitisation Methods has been revised by the WE Standards and Technical Committee and will be on the website shortly.
  • Excellent work on recommendations for standardisation of the cooler probe interface continues.
  • Funded by WE, NSF International will be carrying out a programme of migration tests and working with bottling plants in Spain, UK, Germany and Poland.
  • A task force has been formed to discuss and investigate plastic particles.

Communications Committee overview:

  • WE Members are being encouraged to include the WE logo on their website.  This will help us to be larger and more relevant to the industry.
  • A WE Care for Your Cooler publication is being written and will be translated.
  • Hydration promotional documents are being commissioned to help WE Members promote water as the best way to hydrate.

Education & Audit Committee overview:

  • The recently revised WE Bottled Water Code of Practice is to be registered with the European Commission (the POU Code of Practice is already registered).  This will mean that the WE Code will provide the standard Europe-wide.
  • A workshop will be held in Dublin on the value and WE training and how it can help your company.
  • A template is being written to help National Associations promote and organise training and audits.

International Supplier & Fair Committee overview

  • Preparation for Dublin is ahead of schedule – see full report.
  • Berlin will be the venue for WE 2019 Conference, Trade Fair and Aqua Awards. 
  • 16th – 18th October at the Melia Hotel, BERLIN.
